You Have Already Taken the First Step
Before arriving here, you paused and affirmed what you sincerely believe:
You believe in the One Creator — the Creator of all that exists.
You believe in His angels.
You believe in His Books.
You believe in His Messengers.
Those were not simply boxes to check.
They represented something much more important:
Your mind has begun to recognise the Creator.
Now comes the more personal question:
How can you connect with Him?
The Mind Can Recognise Him — But Cannot Fully Comprehend Him
Your mind is an extraordinary gift.
It can observe the universe, question its existence, examine evidence and recognise that creation points beyond itself to a Creator.
But everything your mind normally understands belongs to creation.
The Creator does not.
He is not another object within the universe. He is the One who created the universe, its laws, time, space — and the human mind itself.
The Qur’an says:
“There is nothing like Him.”
— Qur’an 42:11
So do not stop thinking.
Think. Question. Reflect. Seek.
But understand that the Creator cannot be completely contained within human imagination.
The mind can bring you to recognition.
The heart begins the journey of connection.
Believe Beyond What Your Eyes Can See
We often think something must be visible before it can be real.
But reality is greater than what our eyes can see.
The Qur’an describes those who receive guidance as:
“Those who believe in the unseen…”
— Qur’an 2:3
Believing in the unseen does not mean abandoning reason.
It means recognising that reality is not limited to what our physical senses can perceive.
You cannot see the Creator.
But you can recognise His creation.
You cannot physically reach Him.
But you can turn toward Him.
And that connection can begin now.
Speak to the Creator
You do not need another human being between you and the Creator.
You do not need a special place.
You do not need complicated words.
You do not even need to know Arabic.
Speak to Him directly.
The Qur’an tells us:
“We are closer to him than his jugular vein.”
— Qur’an 50:16
This is not about physical distance. It reminds us of the Creator’s complete knowledge of us — our thoughts, fears, struggles and what lies within us.
So speak sincerely.
You might begin simply:
“Creator of everything, You created me and You know me.
Guide me to the truth.
Help me to know You.
Keep me away from what is false.
Show me the path that brings me closer to You.”
Speak in your own language.
Tell Him about your fears.
Your family.
Your difficulties.
Your hopes.
Your mistakes.
Your unanswered questions.
Ask for forgiveness.
Ask for guidance.
Ask for strength.
Thank Him for what you have.
Ask your Creator for everything.
This is where the connection begins.
“But I Speak to Him — and I Don’t Hear Him”
At first, this may feel like one-way communication.
You speak.
You ask.
But you do not hear a voice answering you.
You may wonder:
“Is He really listening?”
The Qur’an gives a beautiful answer:
“Indeed, I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me.”
— Qur’an 2:186
You do not need to hear the Creator with your ears for Him to hear you.
You do not need to see Him with your eyes for Him to see you.
You may not hear Him — but He hears you.
You may not see Him — but He sees you.
And when you sincerely call upon Him, He has promised to respond.
Then How Will I Know He Is Responding?
Do not expect every prayer to produce an immediate event.
Do not expect to hear a voice.
And do not treat every coincidence as a supernatural sign.
Instead:
Ask. Trust. Observe. Reflect.
Sometimes what you ask for may come.
Sometimes it may come differently from what you expected.
Sometimes a door may open.
Sometimes a door you desperately wanted may remain closed.
Sometimes understanding may come before your circumstances change.
Sometimes guidance may come through knowledge you discover, something you finally understand, or a direction that gradually becomes clearer.
And sometimes you may not understand the answer at all — at least not yet.
The important thing is to begin recognising:
“My Creator hears me. I can turn to Him.”
Give Your Heart Time
At first, your mind may be ahead of your heart.
Your mind may say:
“I believe there is a Creator.”
While your heart still asks:
“Is He really listening to me?”
Continue.
Speak to Him when life is difficult.
Speak to Him when life is good.
Ask Him when you need something.
Thank Him when something good comes to you.
Turn back to Him when you make a mistake.
Ask Him for guidance when you are confused.
Over time, what began as recognition in the mind can become trust within the heart.
You are no longer simply learning about the Creator.
You are learning to rely upon Him.
Your Journey Does Not End Here
You began this journey by asking some of life’s biggest questions.
Who created us?
Why are we here?
What happens after death?
Has the Creator given us guidance?
You explored The Book.
You learned about The Creator.
You reflected upon Life & Purpose.
You considered The Religion revealed by the Creator.
And now you have reached something more personal:
You have begun to understand how to connect with Him.
But this is not the end.
It is the beginning.
Continue speaking to Him.
Continue asking Him for guidance.
Continue learning about His final Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
And whenever you are uncertain, return to one simple and sincere request:
“Creator, guide me to the truth and help me to follow it.”
You do not need every answer today.
You do not need to pretend that every doubt has disappeared.
Ask sincerely.
Seek sincerely.
Keep turning toward Him.
Because the connection begins when you turn to the Creator —
and discover that He was already listening.
